Refining of Precious Metals

After you have used our catalysts and they are spent, Heraeus is the competent partner at your side for recycling them. These catalysts contain precious metals such as platinum, palladium, rhodium or ruthenium and in our modern refinery they can be reprocessed economically with a high yield. The precious metal which is recovered can be used again for the manufacture of new catalysts.

In this way our service extends from the production of new catalysts to the recycling of precious metals from used materials and the administration of your precious metal account. The chemical recycling process and the physical handling of precious metals are Heraeus core competencies.
